They have started to develop their news networks and more will be added to the blog as it happens.

News Module

In the section currently underway you will learn about NEWS and in particular you will focus on T.V news.
As with all the modules we study you must apply L.I.A.R to all you do.

An undersatnding of NEWS VALUES will be important.

A number of news producers have made teaching and learning materials available for us to use.

I would recommend having a look at Channel 4

We will be using some of their materials in lesson.

The Breakfast Club is the next text we will use in our study of Representation and Youth.

The director John Hughes is responsible for some of the most successful comedy films of the 1980s and 1990s, including Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Weird Science, Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, Planes, Trains & Automobiles, Uncle Buck and Home Alone.

Recent failures

Popworld Pulp magazine(ISSUE 2 PICTURED)launched and closed within two weeks after just two issues early this year- making it one of the biggest failures in recent times.

Know your market.

Both classes are now working hard on the magazine research task. Each class has been split into groups and those groups are compiling questionnaires and surveys. The search is on for a gap in the market.

Remember to ask yourself the following question once you think you have found a gap in the market...Why has no one filled the gap? For example there is no 'Yellow Flower Pressing' magazine out there that caters for teens aged 13-14 ...is that a gap in the market?

Click on the title 'Know your market' for a link to the recent history of teen mags. It is in alphabetical order and also feature some sales figures at the bottom of the page. Check out 'Smash HITS'-j17- and the recent flop Pulp (popworld).
